Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail sometimes deliver the TripIt verification email to your junk mail folder, so if you haven't received your verification email, please check your junk mail folder.
You can also have the verification email re-sent to you. First, we recommend you add support@tripit.com to your email safe senders list or address book. Then, click "Don't know your password?" to have a new verification email sent to you. If you continue to have problems, please contact TripIt Support.
Add support@tripit.com to your email address book so notification emails from TripIt are not sent to your spam folder. You can also select the types of emails you'd like to receive from TripIt in Email Settings.
Yes. To use TripIt you need an account with a valid email address and password. This is how we protect your personal information from being viewed by others.
Nothing. TripIt is a free service for travelers like you to enjoy.
There are three ways to create a TripIt account:
We need to verify that you're the owner of the email address used during sign up. We send an email to that address, asking you to respond and verify you own the email account. This protects you from someone else setting up a TripIt account with your email address.
If you're closing an account because you want to combine existing TripIt accounts, please refer to "I have multiple TripIt accounts. Can I combine them?".
If you want to close your account for any other reason, you can do so here. Note that when you close a TripIt account you will permanently delete all information associated with that account.
Even after you've closed your account, it's possible that you could receive email from people you know inviting you to connect or view itineraries on TripIt. However, you can permanently opt out, if you do not want to receive any TripIt emails.
Please understand that if you choose to opt out, you will also disable all TripIt services for that email account. If you inadvertently opt out, please contact TripIt Support.
Click "Login" at the top of the page. You can sign in using any of the verified email addresses associated with your account, and you need your password.
If you forget your password, reset it by clicking "Don't know your password?".
If you forget your password , reset it by clicking "Don't know your password?".
If you forget your email address, try an alternate address you may have used during sign up. If you still cannot remember which email address you used and are unable to sign in, you can create a new account--but you won't be able to access any of the trip details from your original account.
Add or remove email addresses associated with your account at any time from Email Settings. There, you can specify which of your email addresses we should use as the primary address for communicating with you.
Visit Account Settings where you can manage your TripIt Feeds, Account Preferences and Email Addresses.
Visit the Email Settings page to control what type of emails you receive from TripIt.
Yes. It's possible to merge multiple existing TripIt accounts into a single account. To do this, you will need to decide which account should be the primary 'surviving' account. Ideally, you should choose an account that contains the most account information, including the majority of your TripIt Connections.
While all "trips" from each account will survive upon the merge, TripIt account information and TripIt Connections will be lost from the account that is "merged into" the surviving account. So please merge with caution! If you are not certain the best way to merge your accounts, please contact TripIt Support.
Once you choose your surviving account, login with that account. Visit the Email Settings page. In "Email Accounts", follow instructions to merge accounts.
It depends on where you are in your trip planning process.

Yes. TripIt is ideal for organizing business trips for road warriors, as it supports travel confirmation emails from most corporate travel agencies and corporate online booking tools, and also provides mobile access and calendar integration.
Please visit our Business Travel page to get started.
Yes. TripIt is especially useful for travel arrangers, travel planners, travel managers and executive assistants who arrange travel for other people, because it simplifies the process of creating final travel itineraries.
Please visit our Travel Arranger page to get started.
Yes. You can use TripIt like a travel folder to keep track of ideas for new trips. Just create a new trip with your dream location and start building your itinerary. Add notes about special sites, activities and restaurants. Then when you're actually ready to take that trip, you can just adjust the dates and start forwarding your air, hotel and car confirmation emails, and all your research will be part of your actual itinerary.
You can also use TripClipper to capture and organize helpful articles, reviews and other planning content that you want to save, either as Unfiled Items or in a specific TripPlan.
A TripPlan is a single page with all your trip details. Organized by day, it's a step-by-step guide to the things you've planned, plus notes and photos you want during the trip.
A TripPlan is like an itinerary, but better. In addition to organizing your flights, lodging, rental cars and other travel plans, it also includes weather, maps, directions and more.
It's also easy to share a TripPlan with family, friends or fellow travelers, and even collaborate on itineraries with others. And when you're ready to travel, you can print your TripPlan, access it online from a computer or mobile device, or even sync it to your personal calendar.
See Learn More for help getting started with TripIt.
There are two ways to create a new TripPlan:
See Learn More for help getting started with TripIt.
You can add virtually anything you want to your TripPlan.
See Learn More for help getting started with TripIt.
TripIt can automatically import confirmation emails from more than 250 booking sites and travel agencies, including the top sites for booking airline, lodging, rental car, rail and cruise reservations.
See Supported Sites for more.
If you've booked on a site that TripIt doesn't yet support, then your booking will likely appear as an Unfiled Item on MyTrips. You will need to enter your booking information manually by clicking "Add Plans" in your TripPlan. In some cases, we may be able to automatically add your confirmation email to our list of Supported Sites quickly and will contact you in that situation.
Forward your travel confirmation email to plans@tripit.com. It's that simple.
We'll automatically add your booking, either into a TripPlan or as an Unfiled Item (depending on your Account Settings) and we'll send you a confirmation email with a link to the TripPlan.
Imported bookings are automatically added to a TripPlan based on the dates of your travel.
You can disable this feature in your Account Settings by deselecting the checkbox next to "Auto-import email confirmations I forward to plans@tripit.com into trips".
TripIt matches your imported bookings with existing trips in your account based on dates of travel, but sometimes bookings can get matched with the wrong trip. However, it's easy to move a booking to the correct trip by clicking "move" in the upper-right of the item you'd like to move.
When you import a booking into TripIt, we respond with an email that includes a link. As a security measure, that link can only be used once, and must be used within 7 days. However, if you click an expired link, you will be asked to sign in to TripIt. Once you are logged in, you can view imported bookings on the "MyTrips" page. The email link is just a convenience for you—your booking is imported whether you click the link in the email or not.
If your original air confirmation email has limited information about your flight, TripIt often adds other details, such as aircraft type, meal and entertainment information. This information comes from the same source that supplies many airports and websites, a leading provider of airline schedules for the travel industry. While this information is considered very reliable, please double check your imported bookings to ensure they are accurate.
At this time, schedule changes are not handled automatically in TripIt. You must manually update your TripPlan. If your airline or booking site notifies you of a schedule change, locate the flight you wish to update (either from the TripPlan or the Unfiled Items) and click "Edit". Modify the details, such as flight numbers, dates, departure and arrival times, etc.
No. TripIt does not sell travel. We believe you should be able to book wherever you want, choosing from among your favorite travel suppliers and booking sites. Our goal is let you to book anywhere, and then organize all your travel plans together into one place.
You can update the introductory section of a TripPlan by clicking "Edit" for the TripPlan on MyTrips, or by clicking "Edit Trip Details" on your TripPlan.
Click "Add Plans" on your TripPlan and select "Maps" or "Directions". You can enter your own addresses or airport codes, or simply select from locations already in your trip.
TripIt automatically generates maps that you will probably want, such as a map of your destination city or of your hotel. Simply click "Delete" next to any map you want to remove.
The weather information you see in your TripPlan is based on historical averages for that day over the past 25 years. You'll see average low and high temperatures for that day, plus an icon to indicate an above-average likelihood of precipitation (snow or rain) or high winds.
Please note that historical average weather data is not the same as a weather forecast, which can vary greatly from historical conditions. Because forecast information is generally only available for the next week, TripIt uses historical averages to help you plan for weather far in advance of your trip.
TripIt automatically shows typical weather for each day in your TripPlan, based on historical averages. This information cannot be deleted, but you can edit the cities it refers to by clicking "More Tools" and "Edit Weather" on your TripPlan, or click "edit" next to any weather icon.
A Note is a general information holder you add to a TripPlan. Notes include a title, text, images, dates and website URLs. Enter whatever you like–ideas, thoughts, recommendations, reminders, even photos–and place the notes wherever they are most useful in your itinerary.
To create a Note, click "Add Plans" and "Add Note" in your TripPlan.
Yes. Items are displayed in chronological order in your TripPlan. By changing the date and time of each item in your travel plan, you can specify the display order. Click "edit" next to any trip item to change the date or time assigned to it. For example, you may want to display your Notes at the beginning of a day at 12:01am, or at the end of a day at 11:59pm.
There are two levels of detail for each item in your trip plan:
To switch from a Summary to a Detail view, click the "Expand" icon next to the travel item. You can also change the entire TripPlan at once by clicking the "Details: Summary" or "Details: Expanded" buttons near the top of the page.
Anyone invited to a TripPlan can read and add comments to a trip. All comments are visible by all trip participants. Click "add comment" in the "Recent Comments" area to add a comment.
If your TripPlan includes a flight booking, TripIt usually adds "Check Flight Status" and "Check-in Online" buttons for the flight. Clicking these takes you to the airline's website, and automatically includes your flight information if possible.
This saves you time, since you don't need to learn how different airlines handle these services on their sites. If the airline doesn't have a website, or they don't offer flight status and/or check-in functionality on their site, then these buttons may not appear in your TripPlan.
Click "View Change Log" at the top of any TripPlan to view detailed changes made that trip.
You can also use your "My Alerts" feed to be notified if someone sharing your trip has made changes. You can view your "My Alerts" feed on the tab. Or, you can subscribe to your "My Alerts" feed so that you don't have to be logged into TripIt to see this information. Please refer to What is My Alerts feed.
You can delete a TripPlan that you created, but you cannot delete TripPlans that you were invited to share, although you can remove yourself from these trips.
TripIt makes it easy for you to share your travel plans with others. There are two key ways you can share your trips:
To share your TripPlan with others, click "Share This Trip" button and follow the instructions. You can invite one or more people at a time, and can also indicate if they are travelers for this trip. Recipients must click the link in the invitation email within 7 days, after which time the invitation expires. The email invitation link is valid for one use only.
There are two levels of permissions you can give to people who share your TripPlan:
You can view all outstanding trip sharing invitations, or cancel outstanding invites, by selecting "Manage People" from the "More Tools" menu of your TripPlan.
Yes. If you send a private trip share invitation to someone who is not yet a TripIt user, we will create a temporary account for the recipient so they have a secure way to access your itinerary.
If you prefer to share your trip without requiring the sharees to have TripIt accounts, you can generate a public trip URL. Click the "Share This Trip" button within your TripPlan and on the next page you’ll see an option to "Generate link." You can then copy that URL and send it out to friends by email, post it on your blog, or distribute it however you like. Note: When you make your itinerary publicly available, anyone could discover your itinerary if they guess or stumble upon the URL, so use this option cautiously. Once you make a trip public, you can deactivate the public URL at any time by clicking the "Deactivate" link next to the URL.
We generally recommend private trip sharing to maintain the confidentiality of your TripPlans.
Yes. When you share a trip from the "Share This Trip" page, you have the option to include trip details as text in the body of the emailed invitation. Note that if the recipient is a TripIt user, then the full itinerary can also be viewed from their TripIt account.
Yes. To remove people from a trip, click "More Tools" and "Manage People" on your TripPlan, then click "remove" for the person you want to remove.
Note, when you remove people from a TripPlan, they can no longer access the trip or any trip items, but all of their contributions will still be part of the trip.
Yes. To remove yourself from a trip where you accepted an invitation, click "remove" next to the trip name on MyTrips.
Yes. To cancel a sharing invitation, click "More Tools" and "Manage People" on your TripPlan, then click "remove" for the person you want to remove from the trip.
The link in a sharing invitation email expires within 7 days as a security measure, and it is valid for one-time use only. After 7 days, the invitee may still access the trip you've shared, but can only do so by logging into TripIt and visiting MyTrips.
If you'd like to send the recipient another invitation that will be good for an additional 7 days, click "More Tools" and "Manage People" on your TripPlan. For any invitee who has not yet viewed the trip, you will see a link that says "re-invite." Simply click "re-invite" and the recipient will be sent another invitation to view the trip.
Another TripIt user can add bookings to your TripPlan as long as you've given them "Collaborator" access to the trip. This will ensure that your trip will be shown in their "MyTrips" list, and they can add bookings directly to the trip, or add Unfiled bookings to the trip by clicking “Move” for the booking on the "Unfiled Items" page.
If you were invited to share someone else's TripPlan, it's possible that they deleted the entire trip, or removed you from the list of people who can access the TripPlan. Contact the trip owner for more information.
If you cannot locate a TripPlan that you created, there are two common reasons:
If you still cannot locate your TripPlan, contact TripIt Support.
The TripIt Blog Badge is a simple widget you can add to your blog that will allow you to share your current location, upcoming trips and your travel stats with whoever visits your blog. The badge will automatically update itself as you update your own TripIt profile. You can create your own here.
You can insert the TripIt blog badge on most standard websites or blogs that support adding your own HTML/Javascript widgets.
You can remove your blog badge at anytime you want. You control if you want to add the blog badge and when you want to remove it. You can also choose to disable your blog badge at any time in our Publishing Options. Please note, any time you choose to re-enable your blog badge after you have disabled it, you will need to re-copy and paste your new blog badge code snippet as we generate a unique code each time it is re-enabled.
There is currently a small time delay in updating your TripIt blog badge with any new trip information that you enter or setting that you may change. It takes approximately 15 minutes for your badge to be updated with your latest information and settings.
Your TripIt user profile allows you to share information about yourself and your travels. Your profile is made up of several sections of information and you have control over who can view each of these sections. For every section in your profile, you have the ability to share with No One, Your TripIt Network or Everyone.
Bring your TripIt profile to life by updating your Profile and Privacy Settings.
Your TripIt user profile contains two types of information:
Bring your TripIt profile to life by updating your Profile and Privacy Settings.
The Locations option of your profile displays where you are presently and what cities you are planning to visit in the future.
If you'd like to share more about your upcoming trips, you can configure Locations to include basic trip information (Trip Name, Dates, Description, Image, and all locations (cities) identified within your trip). When you do this, others will be able to mouse-over each city listed on your profile to see your trip information.
Configure your Locations settings.
Yes. You can reference any other websites or user profiles on other social networks (such as Facebook or LinkedIn), which helps your TripIt Connections get to know you.
Configure your Websites and Other Profiles.
Your travel stat calculations include information from all trips for which you are defined as a Traveler. To adjust your traveler status on any trip, click "More Tools" and "Manage People" on any itinerary. Note: If you do not have "Collaborator" rights to a trip, you may not be able to adjust this setting.
Your rank within your network is based on the comparison of your year-to-date travel stats to those of your Tripit Connections.
Your screen name allows you to identify yourself on TripIt without using your real name. While you can choose to be identified by your real name, we do require that you set your screen name, since it is used if you wish to create a Public Profile.
You can change your screen name at anytime, however changing it will also change your public profile URL. So, if you have added this URL to blogs or other websites, you'll need to change the address wherever it is referenced.
You have control over who can view the information in the different sections of your profile, whether it's No One, Your TripIt Network or Everyone.
Update your Privacy Settings and click the options to the left to see how other people see your profile.
No, not by default. You have the option of making your profile public, which lets you share information with people who aren't using TripIt. You'll have your own URL (www.tripit.com/people/yourscreenname) that you can use to let friends, family, colleagues, or anyone have a peek into your travel world. When your public profile is turned on, it will include all sections of your profile set to show to 'Everyone' on Profile and Privacy.
Enable your Public Profile.
Yes, if you want them to. You can allow search engines to find your public profile by enabling this option on your "Profile Options" page. Note, since TripIt can't control how search engines update their results, if you allow search engines to find your profile and then subsequently turn that off, you may continue to see your profile appear in search results for some time.
A Connection in TripIt is someone with whom you want to share information about yourself and your travels, on a continual basis. Your Connections will automatically be able to see a list of the destinations associated with your TripIt itineraries, and you can see the same for your Connections. Click on MyNetwork to see a list of your Connections and their travel plans. You can also click the Calendar tab within MyNetwork to see this information in a convenient calendar format.
Your Connections will also be able to view any of your profile information set to "Everyone" or "My TripIt Network." To change the profile information displayed to your Connections, visit Profile and Privacy.
You can easily find out when your travel plans overlap with your Connections by using the Who's Close feature. This is great for knowing if you might be in the same place at the same time as one of your Connections. Then, you can meet-up during your trips or when your Connections are coming through your home location.
To add a Connection in TripIt, just login and click "Add Connections" in MyNetwork. Enter your friends' email addresses and TripIt will send them invitations to connect with you on TripIt.
To remove a Connection from your network, go to MyNetwork and click "remove" next to the person's name.
No. Your Connections cannot see all your trip details unless you specifically share a TripPlan with them. Connections can only see the cities you are planning to visit on your trip (e.g., "New York") and the dates you'll be there.
If you want someone to see your entire TripPlan, including the details of your flights, lodging, notes, etc, then you need to share the trip with them. Just go to your TripPlan and click "Share This Trip".
Each time you create or edit a trip in your account, your TripIt Connections will be able to see the travel dates and locations associated with your trip and may be alerted when your travel plans overlap with theirs. If you don't want your Connections to see information for a specific trip, go to the TripPlan you wish to keep private, click "Edit Trip Details" and click the checkbox to make the trip private.
A "Share" is specific to a trip, while a "Connection" lasts from trip to trip.
A Connection in TripIt automatically sees the destination and travel dates for every trip in your account. It's a small amount of information that gets shared, but it is automatically broadcast to your entire Connection network (unless you set a specific trip to "private").
In contrast, when you Share a trip with someone, that person can see all the details of that specific trip– your exact flights, lodging, notes, maps, etc.
A Connection is considered to be close to you if they are planning to be in a city that is less than or equal to 20 miles from a city that you're planning to be in on that same day.
A Connection may be visiting your Home Location if they are planning to be in a city that is less than or equal to 20 miles from your Home Location on any date when you are not traveling.
Visit About Me and enter/edit the city in the "Home Location" field.
There are two ways others can connect with you on TripIt. Either they know your email address and explicitly invite you, or they do it from your TripIt profile. To prevent people outside your TripIt Connections network from sending you Connection requests, go to Profile Options.
A feed is a continuously updated stream of information that can be read by other applications. Your TripIt account has certain feeds meant for your personal use and certain feeds meant for you to make available to others. Your Alerts and Personal Calendar feeds are only available to you and should remain private. Your Location Stream and Activity Feed can be made available to Your TripIt Network or Everyone.
Yes. You can subscribe to "My Alerts" or "My Activity" feeds through an Atom reader. Just login to TripIt and click on the orange Atom icon:
You can also subscribe to your Personal Calendar or Location Stream through a calendar application that supports the iCal format. Please refer to "How do I set up My Personal Calendar feed?"
Your Connections can subscribe to your Activity Feed and Location Stream, but only if you make it available to them on your TripIt profile, however they do not have access to your Alerts or Personal Calendar Feed. Your Alerts and Personal Calendar feed URLs are not available to anyone who is not logged into your account. No one (not even your TripIt Connections) will have access to the feeds unless you send the URL to them outside of TripIt.
Atom feeds, which are similar to RSS feeds, are a way to get information automatically sent from one website (like TripIt) to another website (like My Yahoo). Put simply, an Atom feed is a website with a list of small 'stories.' In our case, these 'stories' would be about TripIt activity associated with you and your Connections. You can use a news aggregator (like Google Reader, Bloglines, MyYahoo, etc.) to subscribe to the feed. Your news aggregator will check periodically for updates to the feed and display new stories to you, so you'll always know what's going on in TripIt, even if you're not logged into the site.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atom_feed for more information about Atom feeds.
TripIt's calendar feed currently only works with calendar applications that support the iCal format.
If you use a calendar that doesn't support iCal formats, you may want to consider a microformat reader. While a microformat reader cannot update your calendars on a continual basis, they do offer a way to export itinerary items when the iCal format is not an option.
Yes. You can refresh most feeds associated with your TripIt account or by clicking on the refresh icon (
) next to the feed. However, if you do this, any application that refers to this feed must be updated with your new URL.
TripIt provides two options for adding itineraries to your calendar. You can either subscribe to your Personal Calendar Feed from your calendar application or simply import your individual trips manually.
Your Personal Calendar Feed automatically adds your trip destinations, travel dates and the details of your trips to your calendar application.
If you use a calendar that supports the iCalendar Feed (iCal) standard (such as Outlook 2007, Google Calendar or Apple's iCal, among others), you can sync the items in your TripIt itineraries to events in your calendar without having to manually re-enter all of the details. Even better, once you set up your calendar feed (which should take less than one minute), the information is automatically kept up-to-date via a live feed between TripIt and your calendar. Any changes you make in your trips from your TripIt account will automatically be updated in your calendar.
If you’re most interested in having your TripIt itineraries automatically added to your calendar on an ongoing basis, your Personal Calendar feed is your best option. Benefits of subscribing to your Personal Calendar feed:
Limitations of your Personal Calendar feed:
Below are the more common calendar programs that support the iCalendar Feed standard, This is not a complete list:
Your calendar feed is turned on by default so you can easily send your TripIt itineraries to your calendar application.
To add the feed to your calendar application, follow your calendar application's instructions for setting up iCal feeds. You will need to have the URL for your TripIt calendar to set up the feed. You can get this URL by clicking “Add to Calendar” on MyTrips. See "More about iCal Feeds" for more information.
In the "Personal Calendar Feed" section of the Feeds page you can choose the level of information you wish to include in your calendar feed, and set up time zones for the feed.
TripIt creates a calendar file of your trip which can be imported into any calendar application that supports the iCal file standard.
Please note that changes you make to your trips from your TripIt account will not be automatically updated in your calendar. Trips that have been modified will need to be re-imported for your calendar to show the latest data. Additionally, Calendar File Download shares the same settings as your personal calendar feed regarding time zones and the level of information displayed.
To import a TripIt itinerary to your calendar, click on the "Add to Calendar" feature on the TripPlan page. Then click on "Download Calendar File". This will create a calendar file for your trip which you can import into your calendar application. See "More about Calendar File Import" for more information.
Please note that changes you make to your trips from your TripIt account will not be automatically updated in your calendar. Trips that have been modified will need to be re-imported for your calendar to show the latest data.
If you use a calendar application that does not support iCal Feeds, such as Entourage or Outlook 2003, Calendar File Download is the best way to get your TripIt itineraries to your calendar.
We also recommend using Calendar File Download to sync your mobile device to your calendar if you have no current method for syncing additional calendar feeds to your device.
Benefits of Calendar File Download:
Limitations of Calendar File Download:
We recommend using Calendar File Download to sync your mobile device to your calendar if you have no current method for syncing additional calendar feeds to your device.
Personal Calendar Feed: Due to caching and the varying behavior of different calendar applications, it can take 30 minutes or more before changes in TripIt are reflected on your calendar. Google Calendar sometimes takes 4-6 hours to read an iCal feed and make updates. If you suspect that your iCal feed is not working properly, please contact TripIt Support.
Calendar File Download: If you manually import your trip, trip modifications will not be updated in your calendar. Please import your trip again if you make changes from your TripIt account.
The content in this feed matches the content in the Alerts tab. Think of it as a news feed that helps you keep track of things that are happening within your TripIt account. It’s helpful if you want to stay up-to-date on your Connections' travel plans or if you share trips with others and want to be alerted when something changes. This feed will post stories when:
A "location stream" is continuously updated high-level information about when and where someone is traveling, and it’s typically read by a calendar application.
When you build a network of Connections on TripIt, you can use location streams to easily keep track of where your Connections are going, and when. When logged into TripIt, you can see this information in MyNetwork on the Connections or Calendar pages.
We've also made it possible to access location streams without having to login to TripIt. If you use a calendar that supports the iCalendar (iCal) standard (such as Outlook 2007 or Google Calendar) then you can view your TripIt Connections' travel plans right there in that application, anytime. The information is kept up to date via a live feed between TripIt and your calendar, so it's a very convenient way to keep track of fellow travelers.
In the "Location Stream" section of Feeds use the "Displays in my profile to" menu to adjust who can subscribe to your feed. Note that any trips marked as private are automatically excluded from the list.
If you'd rather turn off your Location Stream completely, change the Status to Off.
If you don't see a location stream for one of your Connections, it means that person has their location stream turned off, so you will not be able to subscribe to their travel calendar.
To add a location stream for one of your Connections to your calendar application, consult your calendar application's instructions for setting up iCal feeds. You will need to supply your calendar application with the URL for each calendar to which you'd like to subscribe. You can find these URLs by going to your Connections’ profile and clicking the iCal icon that appears on that page.
See "More about iCal Feeds" for details.
This feed contains information about things you've done in TripIt, and is mainly used to keep others up to date on your travel plans. This feed will post stories when:
You can get your TripIt info from any computer or laptop with web access, or in several other helpful ways:
Yes, and it's free. Just point the web browser on your mobile device to m.tripit.com and you're in business.
TripIt Mobile will work on virtually any mobile device with a web browser, such as Apple iPhone, Palm Treo and RIM Blackberry. Every device handles web pages differently, so your experience may vary, but we built TripIt Mobile to be light and easy on browsers, so chances are it will work well for you.

TripIt To Me is designed to help you out of these messy travel situations:
All you need is a TripIt account and access to email in order to use TripIt To Me. You must send the command to plans@tripit.com from one of the email addresses that you have associated with your TripIt account.
TripIt To Me is especially handy if your mobile phone or PDA has email capabilities. Just send plans@tripit.com a command from your phone or PDA and you can easily access your trip information while on the road.
TripIt To Me is currently available only by email. Support for SMS/text messaging is coming in the future.
Just send an email to plans@tripit.com, and include a command in the "body" or "subject line" of the email (ex, "get flight today). TripIt responds with an email back to you with relevant details from your itinerary.
You send us:| get flight today |

TripIt Mobile is a live website that you access from any mobile device that has a web browser. It's like logging into TripIt on a computer to view your trip info, but optimized to work well on a mobile device. If you have a phone like an Apple iPhone, Palm Treo and RIM Blackberry, and you subscribe to a data plan with your carrier, then you should be able to use TripIt Mobile.
TripIt To Me is a way to get your trip information sent to you by email. You can send a command like "get trip" to plans@tripit.com, and we'll email you the information right away. You can also forward that email response to anyone you want, so they can see your travel plans without having to be a TripIt user.
TripClipper is a tool that makes it easy for you to collect travel content from the web and save it in TripIt. Just install TripClipper, then surf the web and when you find something of interest (a restaurant review, walking tour, etc.) click "Add to TripIt" in your web browser toolbar and save your TripClip.
With TripClipper, there's no more forgetting interesting ideas for your trip, no more printouts of paper to manage, and all your travel research ends up in TripIt, where you can easily combine it with your actual travel plans.
For setup instructions for TripClipper, select your browser type:
TripClipper should be able to capture information from most web pages, but there are some exceptions. Website that use frames, Java, or Flash technology may not behave as expected, but there is no risk in trying to TripClip them.
When you use TripClipper to bookmark information on a web page, it creates a note which you can save in either of these places:
You can move TripClipper notes from your Unfiled Items to a TripPlan at any time, and also move TripClips from one TripPlan to another.
We never sell, share, reveal, unveil, give, trade, or otherwise provide your personal information to any third party, ever.
See our Privacy Policy for more information.
TripPlans can only be viewed by people with whom you've shared your trip.
If you need to remove someone from a trip you've shared, click "More Tools" and "Manage People" for the specific TripPlan and remove anyone who has already accepted an invitation, or cancel any pending invitations that you've sent.
Note that any account information you have set to display to "Everyone" on Profile and Privacy can be viewed by people outside your TripIt network.
TripIt makes every effort to accurately import bookings you send us, but you should always review the imported bookings for accuracy. TripIt does not accept responsibility for errors that occur in the import process, or for incorrect information supplied by third parties.
See our User Agreement for more information.

A microformat is HTML code that we've add to TripIt pages that enable data such as contact information, locations and events to be extracted from TripIt pages by a microformat reader.
Learn more at the Microformats Community website.
You currently need to install a microformat reader in your web browser in order to take advantage of microformats on TripIt. With a microformat reader installed, the microformats on TripIt enable you to easily copy items in your trip itinerary (such as an air or hotel booking) to your calendar application. This is particularly useful if your calendar application doesn't support our iCal feed. There are other fun uses for microformats too.
There are several popular microformat readers available. Here are some of them:
TripIt currently processing travel confirmation emails from more than 250 supported booking sites. We continue to add new sites based on new bookings that we receive from users. However, there are still many smaller travel sites that we don't have support for yet.
If there are errors in a booking that we added to your itinerary, and that booking is from a supported booking site, then please contact TripIt Support.
There are several possible reasons why we weren’t able to properly import your confirmation email:
TripIt works with any email client that forwards emails in HTML format, including the major services such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and Outlook. TripIt has some issues with Eudora as well as any service in which the email preference is set to forward email as Text instead of HTML.
You can add the My Travel application to your LinkedIn home page and profile. It allows you to share your current location, upcoming trips, and travel stats with your colleagues and connections via your LinkedIn profile. It also lets you follow your network's travel plans.
The My Travel application is only available for LinkedIn. We will update you if the application will be available for other online services.
The easiest way to get it is in LinkedIn's application directory.
The My Travel application has two views. One is for your LinkedIn home page: it displays your upcoming trips and tells you which connections will be near you in the near future. The other view is for your LinkedIn profile, where your connections can see your current location, travel stats, and any upcoming trips.
Yes, trips in your TripIt account will be displayed on LinkedIn (unless you mark them private), and trips you create on LinkedIn appear in TripIt.
You can view a trip's destination and dates on LinkedIn. You can add or view all your trip details the way you would on TripIt – manually or by emailing them to plans@tripit.com.
As many as two of your upcoming trips will display. If you have any private trips, they won't appear on LinkedIn (or anywhere else!).
Not automatically, no. You can, however, invite anyone with an email address to become a TripIt connection.
On LinkedIn, you can see both your LinkedIn network and TripIt Network in Who's Close and travel stats rankings. On TripIt, you can see your TripIt network only.
LinkedIn's Network Updates feed will be updated when you plan a new trip, depart on a trip, and return. Of course, private trips won’t generate any updates to anyone.
To remove the profile page view, navigate to Edit Profile and click the "Remove" link. On the home page view of the My Travel application there is an "X" at the upper right that removes that view. Both views need to be removed manually. Note: your TripIt account will not be deleted by performing this action.
